Password Generator

About the Password Generator

Create strong, unpredictable passwords or memorable passphrases. Password mode lets you set length (4–64) and mix uppercase, lowercase, numbers and symbols, with an option to exclude ambiguous characters. Passphrase mode joins random words from a 512-word list with a separator of your choice. Every value is generated with your browser’s cryptographically secure random source and never leaves your device.

This tool works in your browser: the files and text you use are processed on your device and are not uploaded.

How to use it

  1. Choose Password or Passphrase mode.
  2. Adjust the length (or word count) and the character/word options.
  3. Copy the result — regenerate as many times as you like.

Frequently asked questions

Are the passwords truly random and secure?

Yes. They come from crypto.getRandomValues, a cryptographically secure random generator — not Math.random — so the output is suitable for real account security.

Password or passphrase — which is better?

Both can be strong. A long passphrase (several random words) is easier to remember and type, while a random character password is more compact. The strength meter reflects length and word count.

What does "exclude ambiguous characters" do?

It removes easily-confused characters like 0/O and 1/l/I from the pool, which helps when a password must be read or typed by hand.

Is anything sent to a server?

No. Generation happens entirely in your browser; passwords are never transmitted, logged or stored by the site.
