How is a discount calculated?
Amount saved = price × (discount ÷ 100), and final price = price − amount saved. A 25% discount on 80 saves 20, giving a final price of 60.
How do I stack two discounts?
Discounts apply in sequence, not by adding the percentages. 20% then 10% off 100 is 100 × 0.8 × 0.9 = 72, an effective 28% off — not 30%.
How do I work out the original price from the sale price?
Divide the sale price by (1 − discount). A 60 item at 25% off had an original price of 60 ÷ 0.75 = 80.
