Image Compressor
About the Image Compressor
Shrink JPG, PNG, and WebP image file sizes right in your browser — ideal for faster-loading websites, smaller email attachments, and staying under upload limits. You control the trade-off between quality and size. Images are processed locally on your device and never uploaded, so even private photos stay private.
This tool works in your browser: the files and text you use are processed on your device and are not uploaded.
How to use it
- Drop in, choose or paste (Ctrl+V) one or more images — up to 50 at a time.
- Pick the output format, then compress by quality or by a target size in KB, and optionally resize.
- Compare the result with the original using the slider, then download images one by one or all together as a ZIP.
Frequently asked questions
Does compressing an image reduce its quality?
Lossy formats like JPG trade a little visual detail for much smaller files; at moderate settings the difference is usually invisible. The tool lets you preview and dial in a balance that keeps images looking sharp while cutting size.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Compression happens entirely in your browser using the Canvas API, so your photos never leave your device — good for privacy and fast even offline.
What is the difference between JPG, PNG, and WebP?
JPG is best for photographs, PNG preserves sharp edges and transparency (logos, screenshots), and WebP typically gives the smallest files at similar quality. Choose based on the image type and where it will be used.
Will compression change the image dimensions?
Compression mainly reduces file size, but you can also cap the maximum width or height to resize large photos. Reducing dimensions is often the biggest single saving for oversized camera images.
